Army Close Combat Badge
Bronze and Silver versions

Awarded based upon serving in a front line combat unit, with variations in Bronze, Silver, and Gold to be presented according to achievement of a specific number of days in combat.

The version in Gold is the most coveted of all grades, and represents a period of 20 days of successive combat in a front line unit. It has been reported that
Adolf Hitler considered the Gold Close Combat Badge to be the highest honor a soldier ever recieved, as it was the truest symbol of a soldiers' fighting spirit. Very few were ever awarded in Gold, and figures report that less than a few thousand were even produced.

World War I Wound Badges
All Branches

German wound badges were issued in several different variations, between World War I and II. In fact, there were more variations of this one award than any other badge in the German armed forces.

These were also awarded in far greater total numbers than any other badge, quite similarly to its' equivalent in the U.S. Armed Forces, the Purple Heart. Consequently, the wound badges were produced in greater numbers than any other German decoration.

Within our catalog pages, each of the various grades and variations of the Wound Badge are discussed in greater detail, and includes the criteria established for the awarding and wear of each badge. Simply click on the picture at left, and you will automatically be redirected to our current inventory of these badges.

As these badges survived the war in tremendous numbers, we have been able to acquire a substantial amount of original wartime produced Wound Badges and are proud to be able to offer them for all of your collecting needs !

Panzer Assault Badge
l. to r.
Bronze 25 Assaults. Silver 25 Assaults, reverse

As awarded to members of the Waffen SS and Wermacht soldiers, this award was offered in several different grades, as follows :

25 Assault in Bronze
25 Assault in Silver
50 Assault in Bronze
50 Assault in Silver
75 Assault in Silver
100 Assault in Gold

It is a little known fact that the Bronze version was only awarded to troops assigned to motorized infantry regiments, while the Silver award was presented to actual Panzer Tank crews...with either version of the award requiring the involvement in multiple Panzer Assault operations against an armed enemy in battle.
The criteria for awarding of these badges resulted in substantially more Silver awards than the Bronze versions, which naturally makes the Bronze more difficult to locate due to the low total production of such.

Within our catalog pages you will find each of these badges discussed in detail, and will be able to view our entire inventory of the various grades of this badge.
