We have an extensive inventory of complete period uniforms in stock, for every branch of the military...specializing mainly in Officer's uniforms and "crusher" style hats, we have a selection of ranks and sizes which would envy a typical Quartermaster's Depot during World War II !

Our founder, Ronald Heron, began collecting military items by the age of ten years old...acquiring many of our items directly from the veterans themselves, at local yard sales and swap meets. Throughout the years, other methods were employed, such as Estate Sales, Military Shows, Flea Marts, and Antique Shops...but one thing has remained consistant, and that is our desire to obtain and then offer the highest quality merchandise at the most reasonable prices available !

In our ongoing search for original period memorabilia, we naturally acquire many items which are one of a kind, or unique in nature...as no two soldiers won exactly the same medals, and often made specific personalization of their own issued equipment. This only adds to the uniqueness of the item, and reveals the character of the original owner.
Many of our inventory are what are considered named items, or items which can be researched back to the original owner by some easily available means of research. Some of our items have been extensively researched, and others have not...as we know that some collectors prefer to do their own background on items which they acquire, as that is yet another thrilling aspect of the hobby !

Many colorful characters in American History emerged from service in our nations' military, and researching some of their stories is often more entertaining than reading novels !
Some stories were immortalized in film and television, such as Gregory "Pappy" Boyington, Major, USMC...leader of the "Black Sheep Squadron" Marine Corps Fighter Group VMF 214, and whom from all accounts was a notorious and larger than life individual in person.
Others were immortalized AS movie stars after the war, such as Audie Murphy...most decorated soldier of World War II, who rose from the rank of Private to Major by the end of the war. Throughout the 1950's he starred in many a cowboy western film, and even starred as himself in the story of his own military adventures, "To Hell and Back".

But one of the most enduring aspects of this glorious hobby remains in uncovering one of the millions of untold adventures of the everyday heroes who served in the war, as all too often their heroism has become obscured by time...yet no less important or relevent to our history, as each awaits the day when the truth of sacrifice will be revealed. All of the information is readily at hand and available for free, through several government department websites, official military records, and literally millions of citations recorded in recognition of these individuals. Personally, we never tire of reading these citations...as each one depicts an individual act of courage, by ordinary American soldiers who found themselves in extraordinary circumstances. Often enough, the acts of bravery are described with better realism than Hollywood could ever dare to achieve, and yet the stories are all true !

Astonishingly, the very reason that the story behind the medal often becomes obscured by time is actually because of the medal itself, and what it was meant to represent in the first place...as demonstrated through the following condensed story, taken directly from an excerpt of a Navy Cross citation currently in our possession :

A seventeen year old Marine, who was only attached to the unit days before this action, performed the following act of heroism under fire during a first wave assault on the beaches of Okinawa...
"Upon hitting the beach and finding his unit under heavy fire, this soldier while looking for a protective position for himself became aware of a squad of Japanese Infantry soldiers attempting to assault the initial command position being established by the company commander. With complete disregard for his own safety and at risk of loss of his own life, the soldier maneuvered himself into a covering position in open ground between himself and the command post. Positioning himself directly in front of the command post, the soldier was then mortally wounded by a grenade as he provided protection to the commanding officer."

It is hard to believe that such a story could become lost in time, however the citation was awarded to the young soldiers' mother as a posthumous decoration for valor...and the mother simply put it away not wanting to be reminded of the loss of her son, and perhaps not even realizing the level of heroism described within the citation itself. Many unique, true stories such as this can be found through the use of available research sites, and deserve to be rediscovered as living testament to our nation's military heroes. Knowing the story behind the award, is the only thing more dramatic than owning the medal itself.

Feel free to explore our website in search of both, as we would be proud to help you to acquire your own piece of living history !
