In the beginning...

The guitar in the picture was one of the first major acquisitions by Mr. Heron, and was bought at a yard sale for
$ 500.00 cash in 1984. He recalls that at that time, that was two weeks salary...and was alot of money to spend on a guitar, and he couldn't really afford to buy it. But he knew what it was immediately when he saw it, and instantly knew he couldn't afford not to buy it. Even though the money he had in his pocket at the time was supposed to be used to pay for the rent on his apartment, he spent it anyway...and never regretted it, as he knew he had made a major find !
It is a beautiful example of an extremely rare 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard, in almost pristine condition and bearing a most desirable flame top.
At the original date of acquisition, this guitar had an approximate value of $ 10,000.00 and was not listed for sale at that time. During the ensuing years these guitars began to climb in value dramatically, and fewer nice examples have become available. This guitar is currently owned by Collector's Connection, Inc., having been acquired directly from Mr. Heron during the founding of the company.
It remains as one of the nicest all original examples of a '59 Burst, and a lesser one sold recently for $ 125,000 at a well known auction house in New York City. Although the guitar has been shown to a few select people and many serious offers to buy it have been made, the guitar has never been offered for sale since acquisition.

A true collector's piece, a nicer one will never be located...but we're still searching yard sales, just in case ! Throughout the years, this remains as the single greatest acquisition in the history of the Company...and the pride of owning such an outstanding instrument exceeds whatever financial value can be placed upon such a rare and unusual item, and is offered for display here for exactly that purpose.
